Barncroft House is only 20 minutes drive from the beautiful, historic city of Edinburgh. Sightseeing on offer includes the Castle, Dynamic Earth, the new Parliament building and the city Zoo. There are also a number of places of interest within East Lothian itself. The Museum of Flight is certainly worth a visit to see Concorde, the Scottish Seabird Centre is housed at North Berwick and there are also a few castles to explore down the Forth coast. The area boasts no less than five blue flag award beaches, as well as the John Muir Country Park. Golfers will be well aware that there are many outstanding golf courses close by, including the world famous ‘Muirfield’.

Lammermuir Hills If the great outdoors is your thing, Barncroft House is situated close to both the Lammermuir and Pentland hills, which provide a lovely day of rambling. There is also an excellent network of off-road cycle paths in the immediate area. The owners have extensive experience of outdoor activities in East Lothian and are happy to provide advice on the best trips. If you fancy travelling a little further a field Loch Lomond can be reached in about an hour and highland country is just a little further north from there.
